Inclusive
ROOKIE TT
Table Tennis is inclusive, no doubt! This should be embraced. Although it varies across the world generally there is not the social snobbery of some other sports, or rough elements.
By standing just approximately 10 foot away from your opponent you always feel part of the action and included. The rallies are quick and there is little waiting around. You are included in the action.
Doubles is another way to feel included and share an experience.
Regardless of age, young, old or otherwise, whatever age nearly everyone can play it! We have played in local league matches with 85 year olds and 10 year olds and all in between.
It is a sport where males, females and all genders can play each other. At local league level males and females play each other. Females can also play solely together if they feel more comfortable.
There are specific events for those with a disability, whilst many also compete in local league.
It is a diverse sport which should include all from all races, social, ethnic, sexual and economic background. There is just a bat and ball and table and all should be equal in the playing experience and are commonly united and level in sharing in the rules, dimensions of the table, conditions, gravity etc.
People with different economic situations put those to one side and can just play. Yes some people spend more if they want to on bats etc. but a good player remains a good player. An enthusiastic and friendly player is just that. Regardless of money or equipment.
Tables are available in so many places. There can be outdoor and indoor tables. People play on their dining or kitchen table. People can carry a mobile net and play anywhere.
Set up your own group at a venue, and include and invite all people. Meet every week, feel included, and look forward to next week.
Have a chat with your fellow playing comrades after the game and share in your experiences, compare notes about the game. Standing just 10 foot away from each other, and jousting on the table, breeds respect and you can have a lovely chat! Of course there are a few outliers and characters but you get that anywhere!
