ROOKIE TT
This is a list of Table Tennis equipment to consider that acts as a checklist. When you play regularly, having decent clothing for the sport and things in your kit bag to help you make sure you are prepared to play and nothing bothers you other than the ball and the opponent. Such things make you feel more comfortable when playing and there is nothing worse than losing if you are not prepared! Some specialist TT sites will sell you all these items as specialist TT items, but often just common sense items will suffice.
Bag - essential! Just make sure you have a good bag that is easy to carry and and big enough to organize your items into. Be organized over this equipment. You may suddenly remember you need your towel or sweatband just before you play and you need it IN your bag and easy to find. There is nothing worse than stressing just before or during a match when you cannot find an item you need because you either left it at home or it is lost in your bad somewhere.
Bat Cleaner - this helps restore some springiness and spin to the rubber and prolongs life of rubber. Saving you money!
Footwear - lightweight indoor sports trainers. You could consider specialist TT footwear if you wanted.
Wrist Sweatband - You can get hot playing table tennis. Between rallies this helps. Wear on non playing wrist so if fingers / hand moist on playing hand you can wipe it.
Towel - every 6 points you are allowed to take a break and towel down. This is good to keep you cool and composed. You get warm playing TT and your hands and face especially will sweat and drying this off will help you feel comfortable again. Some players even when not hot still take the opportunity to towel down so they can have a breather and also think tactically about the game and what they need to do better and next. Also towel down at the end of each game at change of ends. If you have a long tournament bring another towel so you always have a dry towel to use, Some players also bring yet another towel for feet. This is for venues with slippery type floors, here you can put your towel under the middle of the table and use it to dry your trainers if you feel them getting wet. This could be the difference between and losing and also even an injury. Keep a carrier bag to put this dirty towel in away from your main bag.
Clothing - sporty, lightweight, and non white, As the ball tends to be white you could be disqualified if you wear a white t-shirt.
Tracksuit - keeps you warm between matches if needed.
Socks - light breathable socks to compliment your trainers. If a longer tournament bring multiple-pairs.
Bat Wallet - this will keep your bat safe and clean. Helps the rubbers to last longer.
Injury Support - if you have niggles or prone to muscle problems bring sports injury bandages along.
Drink - stay hydrated before and after matches, and sip water/drink of choice during breaks in games.
Food - give yourself a boost. Banana, chocolate, advice varies!
